The Desert Rock, located between Palm Springs, California and the Joshua Tree National Park, is inspired by Palm Springs' unique architectural style, sometimes dubbed "Desert Modernism", and figurative shapes of the unique metamorphic rock formations found throughout the neighboring Joshua Tree National Park’s landscape.

The Desert Rock, employs principles of both Desert Modernism and Organic architectural styles in order to find and settle on a balance between the natural elements of the desert landscape and the need to shelter its occupants from the same natural elements.
